Last week, I've told you all about my first day. I wasn't able to blog about the succeeding days since I've been staying in ze boyfriend’s house and meeting up with some old college friends who I lost contact with for months. Last Tuesday, we just had more formal training. He taught me the process of creating a statement of advice and all that sorts. In case you are wondering about the job that I’m doing, I am the one computing personal finances of individuals so that my boss could give his advice to clients. We are partners in this field! Which is why I love this job because I could see the impact of my work. J At lunchtime, I didn't have lunch with him because I was on my anti-social mood that day. I don’t know what was up with me but I just really don’t want to mingle with anyone in the office. And I also feel shy around him too! He just kept on paying with everything, my lunch, supplies…. Every single thing. He even wanted to pay for my taxi fare! Lol I know it is his job to pay for all those but I am not the kind of person who just openly accepts everything in my favor. I still have this pride that I could not stand anyone paying something for me.
The next day, Wednesday, I was waiting for him in the office for almost 2 hours. At 9am, he was still not at work. I was worried that he got sick or something so I checked on my personal email and saw his mail telling me to meet him up in his hotel lobby. Weird, right? But who am I to object, so I just informed the HR manager and ran going to his hotel. It is near our office so I didn't mind walking fast. When I arrived, I saw him eating breakfast in the hotel restaurant. It was kind of funny because I was surprised to see him in denim shorts and football shirt. I am not used to seeing him like that! Turns out, he just got home that morning because he went on a boys’ night out with some other bosses of the company. I find it amusing, actually, that a 29-year old man with 2 kids but no wife went out partying on a Tuesday night. That’s not something you see everyday. Haha! As he finished eating, he told me that we were going to have a chill out day. It supposed to be on his last day but since he had no sleep the night before and got a hangover, we went on a more relaxed training. He even told me we could go to the spa! He’d get a massage and I could have my nails done. Of course, I declined the offer even how much I want it. Lol He taught me more about the process, had me practiced doing some actual paper work. At noon, we went to a doughnut café. He ordered a hot cappuccino while I ordered the frappe one. I like cold drinks! I only like hot drinks if it is a tea. We facetimed with his partner (mother of his kids) and talked about how work had been going. I even met their adorable son!! Tee-hee :”> then my boss and I talked about random things. We even talked about the traditions of the country I live in and also the time I dated a British guy (he’s British too!) when I was in High school. He’s planning to buy a house here but then I told him he’s not allowed to buy a property unless he becomes a citizen or he has a relative here who had become a citizen, or a much easier way is to marry a local. He just told me, “I’ll name the house after you.” Then I just laughed hysterically. HAHAHAHA!!! He really is funny!! Another instance too, when we were walking around the mall (after eating at the café), he saw an advertisement with a tremendously hot guy wearing just underwear. I think it was an underwear ad. Anyway, my boss said, “Who told them to post my picture up in that wall? They didn't ask my permission!”
This is where I work that day, in a hotel lobby.
Sometimes it's better to go out in the office and work somewhere else.
On his last day, Thursday, we worked all morning as it is his last day. We finalized everything and planned all the work in the coming weeks. At lunch, he went back to his hotel since he needed to pack up and check out. That was one good sign! I went to the mall and found a grey tie with our country’s map. It was just a little map in the middle of the tie which looked perfectly amazing and it was even made by a local brand! Novelty, but classy. I also bought a box of English breakfast tea since I knew it is his favorite, and 3 tubs of popcorn – Caramel, Creamy Parmesan and Jalapeño. When I gave those things to him as he was leaving, he was like
That’s how our training ended.Honestly, I was sad that my boss had to go back to his country. How I wish he could just stay here and work with me. He is the only person I could talk to here in the office, since everyone in here works for various company (it’s a bit complicated), we all have different deadlines and nature of work. I don’t get the chance to mingle with them because they all seem to be busy all the time. But yeah, we’re here to work and not make friends. That’s what I learned in my old job.
Anyhoo, I emailed my boss expressing my gratitude and when he replied to my email last Sunday, he attached a picture of his daughter. She’s lovely, isn't she? <3
She's holding a tub of Creamy Parmesan popcorn that I gave them.
I'm relieved that the kids loved it! :>
And so.... That is how my first week in my new job went. It's difficult to adjust with the new environment but it's a good type of change for me. I've been trying to be independent and be a grown up. It's about time. ;)
Cheers to a fresh new start,
Secret Diary Keeper
